Dermaplaning Myths
TRUE OR FALSE? Top three myths I hear in my skin room. I thought I would share these with all of you.
Hair will grow darker & thicker.
FALSE. As your hair grows in, it may feel a little blunt at first, but this is normal & no reason for concern. Your hair will grow back exactly how it grew prior to dermaplaning. Dermaplaning will not change the structure of your hair.
Dermaplaning is painful.
FALSE. I'm a licensed & certified professional that knows how to properly handle the professional-grade blade to remove ONLY the vellus hair & dead skin cells on the outer layer of the skin. Not going to a professional is what results in an uncomfortable & painful experience.
You can do dermaplaning at home & it’s just as effective.
FALSE. The at-home kits for “dermaplaning” only remove vellus hair. I use professional-grade blades that will exfoliate or remove dead skin cells AND vellus hair. Using a home kit may result in cuts, scarring, hyperpigmentation, irritation, & breakouts. I also use professional-grade products pre- & post-treatments to avoid unwanted results.
